Chapter 3 a kingdom of nuisances and nobodies discourse about. Basileia is what kings and rulers had: sovereignty, majesty, dominion, power, domain. King no longer needed to refer to the actual king of a city or kingdom. King became an abstract representation of anthropos ( human being ) at the highest level imaginable, whether of endowment, achievement, ethical excellence, or mythical ideal. The kingdom of god is what the world would be if god were directly and immediately in charge. Imagine a basic fourfold typology of the kingdom of god in jewish usage contemporary with jesus. There are different interpretations of what a king was defined as, but they all possessed wisdom, they had masses of followers. Jesus is a unique type of king, he was an illiterate peasant, but with an oral brilliance that few of those trained in literate and scribal disciplines can ever attain.
