Traumatizing events have continued to occur after 9/11: threats of bio/chem terrorism. Increased homeland security, colour-coded security alerts, increased airport surveillance, closing of city streets, screenings at public venues, and the implementation of international policies to deal with terrorists including the invasion of afghanistan and iran. Media coverage of these events has been incessant and nationwide and may have contributed to a kind of vicarious traumatization of individuals.
