Perception is the process by which individuals receive, organize and interpret sensory information to give meaning to their environment (or the situation) Brain tries to make sense out of what it seems. Which information to notice like the white shirts and the gorilla selective perception. How to categorize it has to do with social perception and stereotyping. How to interpret information (within our knowledge) Brain interprets it and tries to makes sense out of it. Basically people"s behaviour is based on their perception of what reality is, not reality itself. The world that is behaviourally important is not the objective reality but the perceived reality and how we react to it. Grey squares example show us how contrast can affect our perception since the squares that are on the white side look darker but the grey squares on the black side look lighter. Your brain will literally account for optical illusions and correct them.
