A drug is any chemical other than food indented to affect the structure or function of the body: the use of drugs for medical and social uses is widespread in canada. However, using drugs can often have serious consequences: most serious are abuse and addiction. Drugs that are often associated with abuse are psychoactive drugs. Intoxication comes from the use of psychoactive drugs, which is a state in which unpredictable physical and emotional changes occur. Although addiction is often associated with drug use, it can bow be used for behaviors. Addictive behaviors are habits that have gotten out of control, with negative effects on a persons health. A more modern view of addiction is that it is a disease of the brain. Distinguishing between the two levels is important for developing and implementing prevention and treatment strategies. Scientists think that other behaviors are associated with gambling, over eating.
