Document Summary
The process of research: the research process in psychology can be divided into several steps that usually occur in sequence, first step: observations, beliefs, information, and general knowledge lead someone to come up with a new idea or different way of thinking about a phenomenon, researcher"s questions originate from direct observation of events, humans, and nonhumans in the environment. Example: study of how stress affects behaviours: researcher would presume that a combination of a person"s genetic factor, along with some specific characteristics of his or her environment, should predict how that person will react to various types of stressors, the task of the researcher is to which of these factors affects behaviour, and in what combination, most psychologists would agree that a researcher"s role is to uncover the factors that cause particular physical and mental activities, researchers assume that behaviour and mental processes follow lawful patterns of relationships patterns can be discovered and revealed through research.
