The way media portrays forensic psychology is usually inaccurate (the way they carry out their tasks are different from the hollywood image) Forensic psychology: a field of psychology that deals with all aspects of human behavior as it relates to the law or legal system. There is no generally accepted definition of the field (narrow vs. broad) This definition focuses on the research and application of psychology. Primary goal is to demonstrate that this application of knowledge must always be based on a solid grounding of psychological research. What typically differs across the definitions is the particular focus the forensic psychologist takes. Take on the role of a clinician or researcher, however they are not mutually exclusive and can take on more than one role. Clinical forensic psychologists: psychologists who are broadly concerned with the assessment and treatment of mental health issues as they pertain to the law or legal system.
