The concept of memory can be viewed as a process involving several stages. For example: encoding is the process where perceive and pay attention to details within your environment. But remember that not every piece of information will go through all of the memory stages and factors can affect each stage due to the fact that our memory can change each time we retrieve the event. Recall memory: refers to reporting details of a previously witnessed event or person. Recognition memory: refers to determining whether a previously seen item or person is currently the same as the one being viewed. Estimator: that are present at the time of the crime and cannot be changed. System: variables or factors that can be manipulated to increase or decrease eyewitness accuracy.
