Chapter 4: reviewing the scholarly literature and planning a study. A literature review is a carefully crafted summary of the recent studies conducted on a topic that includes key findings and methods researchers used while making sure to document the sources. Researchers present reports in several written forms. Mostly found in a college or university library. Books containing reports of original research or collections of research articles. Dissertations: phd students are required to complete a work of original research, write up as a dissertation thesis, some graduate students to original research for a master"s thesis, unpublished dissertations might be able to be borrowed. Government documents: many governments sponsor studies and research, many universities hold them in a special section. Policy reports: a researcher reviewing literature will examine papers and reports from research institutes and policy centres. Two useful purposes: locating a source and referencing it properly.
