Domains and characteristics of human development: biosocial/physical domain: includes all growth and changes in body size, proportions, appearance, functioning body systems (as well as social influences that guide them). Includes perceptual and motor skills/capabilities and physical health. Genetic, nutritional, health factors affect growth and change: cognitive domain: includes all mental processes a person uses to gain knowledge. Cognitive development includes changes in intellectual attention, memory, academic and everyday knowledge, problem solving, imagination, creativity, language. Cognition encompasses perception, imagination, judgement, memory, language: psychosocial domain: includes development of emotions, temperament, social skills. Psychological development includes changes in emotional communication, self-understanding, self-esteem, personality, knowledge about other people. Social development refers to interaction b/n person and others who are outside of the individual. Social development includes interpersonal skills, friendships, intimate relationship[s, and moral reasoning and behaviour.
