Cultural imperialism: promoting one nations values, beliefs, and behaviour as superior to those of all others. Often associated with the western world inundating other cultural groups with technology, religion, and ways of living. Cultural process: all cultures passed through evolutionary stages until they reached the technology advanced levels of the western societies. 19th century theories by americans edward taylor and louis henry morgan. Franz boas argued every culture is unique with a unique history. Boaz rejected racism and promoted cultural relativism. Cultural relativism: all cultures are equally valid and must be studied on their own terms. Boaz(cid:859)s follo(cid:449)e(cid:396)(cid:859)s helped develop the (cid:862)4 field approach(cid:863) still evident today.
