Palpebral fissure- almond shape open space between the eyelids. Limbus- lower eyelid margin, border between cornea and sclera. Conjunctiva- thin mucous membrane that lines inner eyelid. Extraocular muscle function- (controls eye movement and hold eyes in place) Inferior rectus- moves eye downward and adducts and rotates the eye medially. Superior rectus- moves eye upwards and rotate eyes medially. Lateral rectus- moves the eye laterally (towards temple) Superior oblique: turns eye downward and abducts and rotate eye laterally. Inferior oblique- turns eyes upward and abducts and turns eyes laterally. Middle layer contains iris, ciliary body and choroid. Sclera maintain size and shape of the eye. Cornea allows light rays to enter the eye. Pupil dilates and constrict to permit light. Posterior chamber is between the posterior iris muscle.
