Charles darwin was the first person to provide a comprehensive, well-documented explanation for natural selection. Natural selection is the main process that increases the frequency of adaptive traits through time. The operation of natural selection involves 3 conditions or principles: The existence of variety is important, without it natural selection has nothing on which to operate (becomes useless) Without variation, one kind of characteristic could not be favoured over another. Every species is composed of a great variety of individuals, some of which are better at adapting to the environment than most individuals. Offspring inherit traits from there parents to some degree and some ways. Better adapted individuals generally produce more offspring over the generations than poor adapted individuals. Theory of natural selection suggests that maladaptive (non-adaptive) or called. Disadvantageous traits will generally decline in frequency or even disappear eventually not all traits do!
