Socializaion: the process by which children learn behaviors, aitudes, and expectaions required of them by their society or culture. A baby"s development, before and ater birth, is a marvel of maturaion. No other ime in human development brings changes that fast. 3 stages of prenatal development: germinal stage: begins at ferilizaion, when the male sperm unites with the female ovum (egg) The ferilized single-celled egg is called a zygote, which soon begins to divide. The placenta connected at to the embryo by the umbilical cord, serves as the growing embryos link for food from the mother. It allows nutrients to enter and wastes to exit, and it screens our some, but not all, harmful substances: embryonic stage: once implantaion is completed, about two weeks ater ferilizaion, lasing unil the 8th week ater contracepion. At which point the embryo is only four cenimeters long.
