Though repeatedly cautioned about his behaviour, was only removed from ministry after parent of abused youth demanded that action be taken. Trial received substantial media coverage due to sensational nature of the case. Had participated in multiple treatment programs over decades but was always returned to ministry until asked to be released from priesthood in 1973.
