Modern consumers, less likely to use single information channel. Customers can know more about a product or service than the salesperson who is actually facilitating the sale. Harder for small businesses to keep up. End-to-end customer security (information is only shared appropriately) Merchant companies take title to goods they sell (buy and resell them) Non-merchant companies arrange for purchase and sale of goods without ever owning or taking title. Three types of merchant companies: sell directly to consumers, sell to companies, sell t government. Business to consumer (b2c) sale between supplier and retail customer. Business to business (b2b) - sale between companies (raw material suppliers) Business to government (b2g) sale between companies and governmental organizations.
