Interpersonal violence includes intimate partner violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and elder abuse. Intimate partner violence (ipv) encompasses spousal violence and violence committed by current or former dating partners. Spousal abuse is physical or sexual violence, psychological violence, or nancial abuse within current or former marital or common-law relationships. Child abuse is de ned as the violence, mistreatment, or neglect that a child or adolescent may experience while in the care of someone they either trust or depend on, such as a parent, sibling, other relative, caregiver or guardian. Elder abuse and neglect are forms of ipv that continue into older adulthood or arise as persons become more vulnerable i. e. spousal abuse my continue as people age or may begin later in life. There are many different forms of elder abuse and neglect, incl. psychological, nancial, physical, sexual, and spiritual abses and neglect. Health effects are likely to be cumulative because individuals usually experience multiple.
