Every employer who hires, follows a hiring process and in many cases its informal. Applicants submit resumes and after screening, few are interviewed. Unfortunately the employer"s decision or guess reveals more about biases than if the candidate meets the requirements. Hiring decisions must be defensible and meet legal requirements as well as standards of reliability and validity. Reliability: the degree where observation scores are free from errors and is an indication of dependability. True score: average score that an individual would earn an a number of the same test or similar versions of the same test. Error score: the difference between the observed score and true score.
