Problem domain: specific area (domain) of the user"s business need that is within the scope of the new system. Items users work with when accomplishing tasks that needs to be remembered. Example: product, sales, shippers, customers, invoices, payment etc. Brainstorming technique: use a checklist of all the usual type of things and brainstorm to identify domain classes of each type. Noun technique: identify all of the nouns that comes up when the system is described or determined if each class is a domain class, attribute or not something we need to remember. Are there roles played by the people that you need to remember: continue working with all types of users or stakeholders to expand brainstorming list, merge the results, eliminate any duplicates and compile on initial list. A technique to identify problem domain classes (things) by: finding, classifying and refining a list of nouns that come up in discussions or documents.
