Email, instant messaging, and cell phones instead of landlines are our primary source of communication because of the investments. What is new in management information systems: new businesses that are technologically advanced tend to replace the old and outdated ones. Of the money invested in it, 37% is in communication services, 30% software & computer services, 25% in ict wholesaling, and 8% in ict manufacturing: some new uses for it in businesses include: Cloud computing platform emerges as a major business area of innovation. A mobile digital platform emerges to compete with the pc as a business system. Adoption of online collaboration and social networking to improve coordination, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
