Document Summary
Information systems make it possible for firms to manage all their information, make better decisions, and improve the execution of their business processes. Some business processes are tied to a specific functional area (sales and marketing, finance and accounting. Some business processes cross many different functional areas and required coordination across departments i. e. fulfilling an online order. Information must flow rapidly within the firm between one decision maker to another; computer-based information systems make this possible. It also replaces sequential steps with tasks that can be performed simultaneously thus eliminating delays in decision making. 2-2 how do systems serve the different management groups in a business, and how do systems that link the enterprise improve organizational performance.
