Frederick w. taylor (father of scientific management) emphasizes careful selection & training of workers and supervisory support to improve productivity. Motion study: the science of reducing a job to its basic physical motions. Henri fayol developed the following 14 rules as he felt all managers should be taught them. Division of labour- specialization of work=improvement in skills & methods. Authority-understand managers have the right to give orders. Unity of command principle- each person has one manager only. Unity of direction principle leader generates single plan. Subordination of individual interests only work issues should be considered. Scalar chain principle- there should be a clear and unbroken line of communication from the top to the bottom of the organization. Personnel tenure-avoid unnecessary turnover & should be lifetime employment 4 good workers. Bureaucracy: rational & efficient form of org. founded on logic, order & legitimate authority.
