Criminology- body of knowledge regarding crime as a social phenomenon, the process of breaking laws, reacion to breaking law. Prohibiion (illegal) + sancion (penalty) must be directed by a public purpose, can regulate morality. Posiive law- made by human government, can"t be crime if the government doesn"t think it is a crime natural law- gods law. Purpose of law- dispute resoluion, conlict will arise, social control, all communiies have control how they handle crime and rules. Correlate: a phenomenon that accompanies another phenomenon and its related in some way. Maturaional reform: the fact people are less likely to commit crime as they grow older. Role convergence hypothesis: the hypothesis that the work roles of women become similar to those of them, so will their involvement in crime. Diferenial ofending hypothesis: there are actual diferences between racial groups in terms of the indigence level of seriousness.
