Document Summary

Causes: slowly spreading electrical abnormality that moves across the visual cortex. But we only get auras when they cross the visual cortex. Organized into modules, lines with a start and end coming out of v1 from hyper complex cells with foveal information that dominating. Information goes into v1 and spreads upwards towards the parietal lobe and temporal lobe. The receptive fields are bigger and binocular, information from both eyes and have contextual effects. Imaginary lines (contextual cues) after processing it sends its signals to the dorsal or ventral streams. Portion of v3 that receives input from v1 and v2. Has a dorsal and ventral subregion (this is confusing but its right) Compensates for the body"s movement in the environment . As we move, the entire scene shifts known as optic flow. Damage: simultagnosia difficulty perceiving multiple items at once. Dorsal: aware of one thing at a time, constantly running into things. Ventral: aware of multiple things at a time.
