Document Summary
There are some traits that are argued to be overarching but do not fall into the big five. The trick is determining whether these are personality factors, traits, or attitudes/behaviours/values. See image: religiosity, machiavellianism, honesty, sexuality, thriftiness, conservativeness, masculinity/femininity, narcissism, humourousness, risk-taking. When considering other traits, the important thing to ask is whether by adding these traits to the big. Intelligence is somewhat linked to conscientiousness they are correlated and intelligence was originally part of the culture factor. However, most personality theorists agree that cognitive abilities are not akin with personality. Religiosity is a tough one, because for some it is part of the self, and for others it is more of a secondary trait that is relevant in particular contexts. Some aspects of religiosity are correlated with openness and extraversion, also. Spiritual transcendence: posited personality trait that incorporates the following facets: prayer fulfillment, universality, connectedness.
