18 views4 pages

Document Summary

Personality assessment: the measurement of individual characteristics of a person. People will believe what you tell them about themselves (e. g. , psychologist claiming he could tell your personality from your style of writing) Cpa states the developers of a personality test must demonstrate that their test is valid & reliable, specify the conditions, population, and cultures the test applies to. Researchers must provide theoretical background and research evidence confirming (or disconfirming) that the test is related to certain outcomes. Researchers must make sure the results obtained are meaningful (not due to biased response) Evidence should be published in scientific journals where it has been reviewed and accepted by other experts in the field. A good test is able to be replicated to achieve the same (or very similar) results. The test has meaning and allows us to make inferences about behaviour, a construct, or other variables.
