Nazi reprisals: operation tannenberg"s objective was to eliminate the polish national leadership, by the end of the first year 50,000 civilians were killed, of which 15% where jewish, 300,000 jews had fled to the ussr before december. Expulsion: germany annexed regions of danzig, west prussia, posen, and east upper silesia. Region contained 8. 9 million poles and 550,000 to 600,000 jews: this was designated the german resettlement area for 1 million germans. Their main objective was farming: poles and jews were forcibly moved to the general government, population 12 million and 1. 4 million jews, hans frank was leader of general government and sought to turn it into an industrious region. He was rivaled with himmler who saw the region as a worthless. In the end only 47,000 jews and 370,000 poles were sent away. Jews that weren"t deported where terrorized and put in ghettos. Expropriation: germans looted jewish homes and businesses.
