Disjunct motion (intervals of a fourth and larger, leaps: only use one or two in a composition, only consonant melodic leaps, resolve tendency tones (7 1 and 4 3, use the law of recovery when you make a leap larger than a fourth above, you must then go down stepwise, rarely use multiple skips one after another, no repeated tones or sequences.
