Document Summary

Intrinsic / inherent feedback: sensory info that occurs normally when performers produce movements; can come from sources outside the body (exteroception) or inside the body (proprioception) Performers can perceive intrinsic feedback directly without assistance from other sources. Extrinsic/ augmented feedback: information provided to the learner by some outside source eg. comments of an instructor, displayed score, videotape replay. Under the control of the instructor, can be provided at diff times in diff forms. Two categories: knowledge of results and knowledge of performance. Kr: augmented info after the action is completed that indicates something about the degree to which the performer achieved the desired movement outcome or environmental goal. Real world tasks kr is often redundant since it contains the same info as intrinsic feedback: eg. Music teacher telling a student the note was flat: redundant kr is of little value and often irritating. Extrinsic feedback necessary when individual doesnt interpret intrinsic feedback.
