Eating food (biting + chewing): the child independently picks up a sliced food, and brings it to his mouth (this would indicate an attempt to eat). He bites down through the piece of food, and then chews his food by moving his jaw up and down for at least 3 times within 5 seconds before swallowing. The child must bite and chew before swallowing for the behaviour to be completed. Since the last piece of food is not bitten before being chewed, it is not counted as an attempt.
