We are in a horrible economic time and people are stating to feel the effects of 3 decades of downsizing and cuts to social programs. Economic recession started in 2008 in the us and has spread to europe and is said to be the worst since the great depression in 1929. Increased mobility of capital is moving money from the state to transnational corporations. Transnational organizations now determine the social, economic and political policies of countries.
