Brain is wrinkled and the size of a grapefruit. Biopsychology; study of biological processes, especially those occurring in the nervous system. Techniques have been developed to help idenify brain structures and funcions they control (ex. Anatomists learned learned lots about the brain structure by dissecing autopsied humans and also animal brains. Nowadays less invasive methods are used such as ct and mri scans. Can reveal brain structure as well as locaion of stroke, tumours, injuries & other brain disorders. Uses magneic ield instead of x-ray rays. Processes 3-dimensional model of the brain or body. Any 2-dimensional plane or slice can be selected to be displayed as image. Produces more detailed scans than a ct scan. Mapping brain funcion (what do the parts do?) If damage to a paricular part of the brain consistently leads to a paricular loss of funcion, then we say the funcion is localized in that structure.
