Some languages are heavily inflected so words can change grammatical role. Agglutinative languages are where each unit in a word expresses a clear grammatical meaning (words which modify each other run together) Voiceless velar fricatives are when vocal tract is constricted as air is pushed through it (not used in english) Pharyngeal sounds come from where the root for eh tongue is raised to the pharynx at the back of the mouth (not used in english) Welsh almost went extinct after english took over the state. It became the primary language of schools, english immigrants reduced number of native welsh speakers and the welsh knot in schools discouraged the use of the language. In 1930s it resurged when a welsh school opened, then the welsh language act allowed legal proceedings to be in welsh. Finally in 1993 welsh and english legally had to be treated equally and number of speakers rose.
