This short story is a very interesting narration of a child"s relationship with her grandmother. The narrator opens and closes the story by mentioning that this is the story of her life, as she told it to [her] and as [she] remember[s] it (2). Given that the story is being retold using the granddaughter"s interpretations of her. Grandmothers stories, there is a chance that it may not be accurate or that the. Grandmother may have exaggerated stories to keep her young granddaughter interested. The grandmother is depicted as a person that enjoys playing games, and is very good at them. Its interesting however that most of the interesting stories the granddaughter had been told about her grandmother had supposedly happened when she was not around to witness them. What makes this story even more questionable is that it is not even the atlantic ocean that separates russia and america, it"s the pacific which shows that the story is inaccurate.
