Given information

we are given 72 rads of fast neutrons and we need to calculate the no. of rads of slow neutrons that will cause same biological damage

Fast neutron

Step-by-step explanation

Step 1.

Effective dose (in REM) = dose (in rad) * RBE.

where RBE = relative biological effectiveness

Effective dose

5 rad of fast neutrons does the same damage as 10 rads of slow neutrons

Because,

RBE for slow neutron is 5

RBE for fast neutron is 10
