As members of the fandom know, one of the largest debates currently is whether
female fans prefer Thor or Loki (it’s the golden-boy/bad boy debate). To make this
even nerd-ier, you decide that you’re going to do some math to figure this out. You
hypothesize that if “birds of a feather flock together” then girls with more “attitude”
prefer Loki, but girls with more compassion prefer Thor. You head toward the
nearest convention and poll 21 Loki fans and 21 Thor fans using the Helping Hands
Scale (HHS). You’ve obtained a mean score of 76 for Thor fans, with a standard
deviation of 7, and a mean of 65 for Loki fans with a standard deviation of 12. Is
there a difference between groups? (note: higher scores mean more helpful)
