You may recall from lesson 4 that we studied verbs ending in -ar. Let's review the endings:
Drop the -ar and add the following endings:

Please don't forget the formula. For each verb:
1) drop the -er or -ir endings, and
2) then match up the ending with the subject:

You may remember in the above chart that three verbs were emphasized: aprender, asistir, and deber. When mentioning that someone is learning how to do something, a follows the form of aprender: Mi hermana aprende a hablar español. Tú aprendes a cocinar. This is also the case for the verb asistir, when you mention the place you attend, an a is placed before it: Yo asisto a la iglesia los domingos. Tú asistes a clases en la mañana. Finally, deber is generally followed by an infinitive, since it conveys the meaning of something that someone ought to do. Nosotros debemos descansar más. Mi madre debe tomar menos café.
