Consider if and how people respond to changes in their economic status. A lot of people found themselves in pretty dire straits following the "great recession" of a few years back. Do we have any data or indications of long-term changes in the psychological and basic needs as opposed to the higher order such as esteem? For example, when they recovered did they return to their old pattern of needs or revise them because of the experience?
