I'm planning to do my graduate research on the mincer model and I will do a survey to get information.

What kind of information do I need to ask to get the numbers to calculate the return on education?

Can I do it on actual salaries and working experiences rather than expected salaries?

1. I will survey employees online using online surveys, is it an appropriate approach to select a random sample? (microdata needed aren't available for my country)

I'm doing my graduate research about the return on education in my country where only one journal article was published about it. However, I need to distinguish my article from the one available. Please note that distinguishing by area is not an option because I will do it using my own questionnaire data.

The focus on the already available research is:

Return on education by gender and by educational level (general education, higher education), it uses expected return gotten from sample survey because microdata is not available for my country. The sample only includes national residents.

* In my case I will do an online survey, it might reach more nationals than foreigners, is it still applicable if I compare between nationals and foreigners?

* Is there any other way I could distinguish my research?

(microdata needed aren't available for my country) (I'm in a Gulf country where there are no people below the poverty line and about 92% of the population uses the internet that is even publicly available) Info will be spread through instant messaging and emails (asking the university to send the email to staff and students who may pass it to others and other national social media accounts)

2. Due to some time limitation and in order to meet the graduation deadline, I can collect about 150 to 200 replies. Is it workable?

3. The variables I am thinking about are salary and wages, working hours, educational level, years of working experience, the average base starting salary after high school, training program length, gender, and parent's education. Are they enough to conduct the research?

4. Can you suggest another applicable model?
