I've attempted this question but I'm looking for verification on answers for part a and part c. In part A, I've placed all the substituents in equatorial positions. In part C, I think that the indicated C1 is achiral and C2 is R configuration. Please let me know if this sounds correct and if not, provide the answers. You don't need to answer part B.
Thanks!
11.a. Draw the more stable chair configuration of my molecule #1 on the left. Then draw the mirror image of your chair on the right. Show stereochemistry. (6 pts) t-Bu Et #1 More stable chair of # 1 Mirror image of your chair 11.b. If you place a sample containing a 50:50 mixture of the two structures you drew above in 11.a. in a cuvette and measure this sample in a polarimeter, what kind of reading would you get? Briefly explain. Use terms like meso, chiral, achiral as appropriate. 6 pts) 11.c. I redrew #1 below with two carbon centres circled and labeled C1 and C2. Are they R or S? Show your work, including prioritization and the steering weel. (8 pts) t-Bu C2 C1 Et #1
