Ethyl butyrate ,CH3 CH2 CH2 CH2 CH2 CH3 is an artifical fruitflavor commonly used in the food industry for such flavors asorange and pineapple. Its fragrance and taste are often associatedwith fresh orange juice, and thus it is most commonly used asorange flavoring. It can be produced by the reaction of butanoicacid with ethanol in the presence of an acid catalyst (H+) :CH3CH2CH@CO2H(1)+CH2CH3OH(1) -> CH3CH2CH2CO2CH2CH3(1) +H2o(1).

Part A Given 7.80 of butanoic acid and excess ethanol , how manygrams of ethyl butrate woud be synthesized , assuming a complete100% yield?

Part B : A chemist ran the reaction and obtained 5.15g of ethylbutyrate. What was the percent yield?
