Refers to everything you need to know to be a part of a particular group, including values, beliefs, norms, shared practices, etc. Culture is a system of beliefs, behavior, knowledge and concrete materials. An easy way to define culture is: a groups way of life. Dominant culture: the way political and economic powers are able to impose values, languages and the ways of interpreting behaviours on a given society. The dominant culture is often the culture we see reflected in our media. Popular culture: the set of practices, beliefs, and objects that embody the most broadly shared meanings of a social system: cultural universals. An element, pattern, trait or institution that exists inall known human cultures around the world. Including family structures, funerals, weddings, languages, etc: subculture. Any system of beliefs, values or norms shared and actively participated in by minority within a culture. A minority culture that differs from the dominant culture but does not directly oppose dominant culture.
