Document Summary

This is a complicated question, that has its roots in an even more complicated history. A history rooted in colonialism, assimilation, and cultural genocide. The overall objective of the commission to work towards a brighter, stronger, and healthier future for in the country of canada. There is a perception that canada is better compared to other post-colonial countries with regards to racism. Canada treated its indigenous population just as horribly. The dark history of the indian residential school system and the consequences it had for its members is a significant part of. To not acknowledge or be willingly ignorant of these historical facts is morally irresponsible. Therefore, i would strongly assert that canadians do have a moral responsibility to know the truth and reconciliation commission"s calls to action and the reasons for them. To understand the reasons behind the truth and reconciliation commissions calls to action, we need to understand why the organization exist in the first place.
