Bowel cancer = colorectal cancer (affect colon & rectum) Colorectal polys closely associated with development of colorectal cancer. Adenomatous polyps can become malignant over time and grow into cancerous tumour. Stage 0 abnormal cells found in mucosa of colon. Stage i (no metastasis) cancer formed in the mucosa has spread to the submucosa/ muscle layer. * no spread into nearby lymph node/ tissue/organ. Iia cancer has grown through muscularis externa to serosa. Iib cancer has spread through serosa to visceral peritoneum. Iic cancer has spread through serosa to nearby organs. Stage iv metastasis has occurred (cancer has spread into organ not near colon) Narrowing & obstruction of bowel change in stool size, shape, colour. Left side cc: poly shaped, large mass, anaemia, fatigue, dark blood in stool, large, bulky tumour w necrosis, small, button-shaped masses, encircle gi tract, ulceration towards middle, obstruction common, pain, vomiting, constipation, bright red blood in stool.
