How have changes in the dsm impacted clinical diagnoses for homosexuality and. Homosexuality was considered a mental illness in the beginning, it was something that was frowned upon. With it being recalled so to speak and not being considered as a mental illness people are more accepting of gay people. They look and see that it is something that is being put out into society and being shown as normal. Mental health and the way mental illnesses are portrayed have come a long way. Homosexuality is no longer something that needs to be cured, before it was considered okay to gay many gay people went through a lot of trauma and pain just to be where we are today. With more research going into ptsd more services are being offered now, and ways to help. Professionals are now studying terms and illnesses that are up to date so they can provide the best help possible to their patient.
