Document Summary
Law and society is designed to provide a general philosophical analysis of law and legal institutions in relation to society. The law affects every aspect of our lives; it governs our conduct from the cradle to the grave and its influence even extends from before our birth to after our death. We live in a society which has developed a complex body of rules to control the activities of its members. In legal philosophy, there are three main categories (analytic jurisprudence, Normative jurisprudence and critical theories of law) that will be discussed in this course. Also in understanding of the meaning of such concepts as law, legal obligation, legal authority, legal punishment, etc. Their work on this front constitutes one major component of the philosophy of law, known as analytic jurisprudence.
