There are different options for electing members this way. First-past-the-post = a first-past-the-post electoral system is one in which voters indicate on a ballot the candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins. Second ballot = the voter casts a single vote for their chosen candidate. Preferential voting = the voter is required to number all boxes in the hor. The first preferences are counted, if a candidate has more than 50% they win the seat. If this is not achieved, the vote candidate with the fewest votes in eliminated and their second preferences are distributed amongst the remaining candidates. One member = easier to hold them accountable for their actions. Preferential voting to mitigate first past the post.
