Document Summary

The term biodiversity (from biological diversity ) refers to the variety of life on earth at all its levels, from genes to ecosystems, and can encompass the evolutionary, ecological, and cultural processes that sustain life. Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is a term that refers to the number of genes, species, individual organisms within a given species, and biological communities within a defined geographic area, ranging from the smallest ecosystem to the global biosphere. This loss in the variety of life can lead to a breakdown in the functioning of the ecosystem where decline has happened. Draughts are one natural source for a loss in biodiversity. Since water is an essential prerequisite for all life on earth, a lack of water has serious consequences for all species. Plants which have not enough water will die off or will provide smaller crop yields. Animals will die since there organism is not able to work without water.
