Starting from the heart, blood rich in oxygen and nutrients travel to all the cells in the body, passing through arteries, then arterioles and finally into capillaries, the gas, nutrient, and waste exchange site. Complete the following chart describing the different layers of a typical blood vessel: Tissue type layer of epithelial tissue layer of smooth muscle and elastic fibers layer of fibrous connective tissue. Tunica intima- composed of endothelium, a basement membrane and an internal elastic lamina lines the lumen minimizing friction as blood passes through.
