Document Summary

Application of radiometric dating is important more important than the theory. Earth"s geology is made up of layers of different rock types. The most common rocks: sedimentary and igneous rocks. The principles were not assumptions; each of them were testable hypotheses. In the last 200 years of their application, they are often valid but geologists don"t assume they are. Biostratigraphy: the study of the succession of fossils and its application to relative dating. Radiometric dating: every piece of data collected is an independent check of what has previously been studied. The data are determined by the rocks, not by the preconceived notions about what will be found. There are many situations where radiometric dating is impossible (not every rock will have appropriate chemistry and mineralogy). Bipedal: organism is bipedal if it walks on two legs. If energized properly, bipedal organisms move very fast.
