Document Summary

Coronary arteries are functional end arteries take part in limited anastomoses (i. e. They do not anastomose sufficiently to keep an area of supply viable if a major branch is occluded): circumflex branch (of left coronary artery) and right coronary artery, anterior and posterior interventricular branch. If angioplasty doesn"t work or when the blockage is too significant, Coronary bypass surgery may be performed: surgery requires access to the heart. In the past, saphenous vein from the leg was used often for this surgery; but nowadays, we can use others as well e. g. radial arteries or even internal mammary artery. Internal mammary artery is another name for internal thoracic. Conduction system is an electrical system that causes cardiac muscle to contract in a coordinated way: ensures unidirectional movement of blood from the atria through the ventricles and into the pulmonary or systemic circulation.
